What it is
A short checklist that takes under a minute and tells you whether you're parenting from a regulated place or from your own stress response.
When to use it
Mid-conflict, before you respond. Or after a rough hour, before re-entering the room. Anytime you sense the day is sliding sideways.
How to use it
- Pause and read down the checklist silently.
- Tick the items that are true right now.
- If three or more are unchecked, step away for two minutes.
- Do one regulating action before returning.
- Re-engage with your child only when your body says yes.
