Self-regulation for parents

Good Enough Parent Journal

Release perfectionism and notice progress.

What it is

A short daily entry built around the research finding that 'good enough' parenting — not perfect parenting — is what raises secure children. It trains your attention away from failures and toward small wins.

When to use it

At the end of any day that felt like a failure, or as a nightly five-minute practice. Especially helpful in seasons of burnout, postpartum, or major transitions.

How to use it

  1. Write down one thing that didn't go to plan today.
  2. List three small things that still went right.
  3. Note one moment of connection, however brief.
  4. Tick the still-mattered checklist.
  5. Close the journal — done is better than perfect.
