Repair Letter Template

Model accountability and reconnection after conflict.

What it is

A guided letter template for the deeper repairs — after a major blow-up, a long stretch of disconnection, or something your child is still hurt by weeks later. Writing it can also be the rehearsal for saying it out loud.

When to use it

When a verbal apology hasn't been enough, when your child won't sit and talk, or when you need to think clearly before opening the conversation.

How to use it

  1. Write what you did — name it specifically.
  2. Write what you imagine it felt like for them.
  3. Take responsibility without 'but' or 'however'.
  4. Name what you're working on so it happens less.
  5. Decide whether to give them the letter or use it as your script.
